After several years of work by our community, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new community-owned, not-for-profit, Open Access scientific journal called Land Systems.

Land Systems is dedicated to the exploration of land systems and their role in sustainability and justice. We are open to a broad range of disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary works, spanning all aspects of land use, land change, and land system science, with qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods approaches.

In this era characterized by a broken publication model, we are working hard to ensure that Land Systems provides a scientifically strong, open access, and fair outlet. The journal originates from the Global Land Programme (GLP), the most prominent community of researchers on land use and land systems, is supported by the GLP Scientific Steering Committee, and contributes to GLP's scientific agenda. Land Systems is published with the services of Copernicus, a non-profit that also supports the European Geosciences Union (EGU) journals.

Submissions are open! Detailed information including scope, manuscript types, and submission procedures can be found on the journal website.

Land Systems is seeking institutional sponsors to support fee waivers for scholars who need such support. Please contact the Co-Editors-in-Chief if your organization is willing to sponsor the journal, and we can work with you to facilitate requests for support.

A journal is only as strong as how it’s supported by its community, and the stronger it is, the more useful it will be for us all and for addressing the many challenges linked to land.

So please spread the word, submit your best works to Land Systems, and contribute to the reviewing process!
