GLP would like to extend a big congratulations to the LASELS and Remote Sensing Working groups – and especially to Maria Piquer-Rodriguez – for being awarded a Volkswagen Foundation Scoping Workshop Grant on their project, "Bridging the Social-Ecological Data Asymmetry: A Scoping Workshop on Next-Generation Land System Science."

Led jointly by the two working groups – this initiative addresses critical imbalances between social and ecological data integration. The workshop will convene 30 international scientists in Hanover, Germany this coming March. These scientists will gather to collaborate and exchange knowledge to address the complex challenges of connecting social and ecological data.

The primary output of this expert gathering will be a comprehensive positions/perspectives paper, which will be published open-access to ensure widespread impact and drive future research directions across the global land system science community.
