About Yufang's Work

Dr. Yufang Jin is a Professor of Earth Observation/Remote Sensing and Ecosystem Change  in the Department of Land, Air, and Water Resources at UC Davis. She works at the intersection of Earth Observation/Remote Sensing, ecosystem dynamics, agriculture, and data science. Her lab develops cost-effective algorithms to monitor land disturbances, wildland fires, plant water use, health, and productivity, using multi-sensor aerial and satellite imagery across scales. Her research has also advanced our understanding on the interaction among wildfires, vegetation, climate change, and human activities. She works on a large range of ecosystems, including specialty crops, rangeland, and diverse natural ecosystems. Jin has published 60+ peer-reviewed papers, and is a topic editor in AI for the Earth Observation/Remote Sensing journal. She collaborates with state agencies, commodity boards, and growers on sustainability challenges.
