About Xinli's Work
Xinli’s research concerns land use change and its effects, especially on economic and ecological trade-offs and synergies of land use change. He is also an expert in urban land expansion, arable land protection, and land resources allocation. He has developed a CA-based land use change model, LANDSCAPE, to project and simulate land use changes.
Xinli grew up in China, where he got his Bachelors’ degree in land resources management from Huazhong Agricultural University. Xinli obtained his Masters’ degree in Geographical Information Science and PhD in Earth Observation/Remote Sensing from Wuhan University. During 2009 – 2012, he worked as a postdoc at Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS. In 2015, he worked with Prof. Peter H. Verburg as a visiting researcher at VU University Amsterdam. In 2016, he worked with Prof. Stephen Polasky at University of Minnesota. Now, Xinli is a professor at Huazhong Agricultural University.
