Fields of Scholarship: Ecosystem research and Landscape Ecology of mountain environment on various temporal and spatial scales ranging from ecosystem to landscape level with a special focus on global change, biogeochemical cycles, functional biodiversity, ecosystem services, sustainable development
Co-ordinator, principal investigator and work package leader in EU-projects i.e. SUSTALP, ECOMONT, CARBOMONT, DIAMONT, VITAL CAMELEON, REGARDS as well as in national funded research projects (i.e. FWF, ProVision, Sparkling Science, ACRP Climate and Energy Fund, Autonome Provinz Bozen- Südtirol).
