About T. Mitchell's Work
Over a 30-year career as a professor at the University of Puerto Rico–Río Piedras, Dr. T. Mitchell Aide trained 35 M.S., Ph.D., and postdoctoral fellows, the majority from Latin America. His scholarship addresses a broad range of topics in tropical forest ecology, including plant–animal interactions, forest and population dynamics, restoration ecology, land-use change, community ecology, and ecological informatics. He is now based in Peru and works with the Smithsonian’s Center for Conservation and Sustainability. In this role, he is helping the Peruvian government develop a rigorous protocol to ensure biodiversity credit market projects generate demonstrably positive outcomes.
