About Surjit's Work
Surjit Singh, a GIS professional, is currently working at Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Pvt. Ltd (ICT), a leading international Consulting Organisation specialised in Highways, Structures, Airports, Urban and Regional (subnational) Infrastructure Development, Water Supply, Water Resources Development and Management, Traffic and Transportation, Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building, and Socio-Economic and Environmental Impact Assessment. He is backed with dual master degree (Geography and Town & Country Planning), and post graduate diploma in Earth Observation/Remote Sensing &GIS. He is also a Functional Area Expert accredited by NABET, Quality Council of India for assessment of Land Use impact in projects required EIA clearance. He has about 14 year industrial experience in the field of applied GIS & Earth Observation/Remote Sensing technologies in multi-sector projects of national and international level. During 2010-2015, he has also been a visiting faculty in the Department of Urban Planning, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi. Since May, 2011 he has been pursuing his Ph.D. at the Department of Geography, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana, and recently (May, 2017), submitted his Ph.D. Thesis. His main areas of interest and research include GIS based natural hazard risk and vulnerability Simulation Modelling (ABM/Predictive/Economic modelling), disaster risk reduction policies, and land use planning. He has the work experience of three countries viz. India, Afghanistan and Mongolia. He has reviewed & edited two international papers on GIS based flood hazard research and written various research papers on the subject.
