About Simon's Work

Simon Bager is the co-founder and COO of Klimate, a carbon removal asset manager helping companies achieve their net-zero targets. He holds a PhD from Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium, where he worked on how private companies can promote sustainable land use through their supply chains, explicitly focusing on sustainability initiatives and commitments. Simon's professional expertise is in the area of land use, focusing, among other things, on agriculture, forestry and bio-based supply chains, including policy analysis and assessments. He has also worked on sustainability aspects in relation to bioenergy and the transition to a bioeconomy.

Simon holds a Master of Science in Environmental Management and Policy from the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University and a Master of Science in Geography from the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management at the University of Copenhagen.

Simon's experience include consulting, project management, scientific research, teaching and communication, with competencies in policy assessment, development, and analysis within the fields of climate change, bio-based supply chains, land use, agriculture and forestry, and the bioeconomy.

Simon has previously worked as:
* Consultant and Senior Consultant at COWI's unit for Bioeconomy, Climate Change and Agricultural Services
* External Lecturer at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Science, Department of Geosciences and Natural Resources.
* Program Assistant at the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security/Sovereignty (CCAFS), where he led the research on the Big Facts project along with three colleagues.
