About Shiva's Work

Shiva Devkota is a Botanist/Mycologist and received his PhD in Ecology and Evolution at Bern University, Switzerland in 2017. He also has a double post-graduate diploma in Botany (MSc) and Social science (MA). His main research interest is to understand the ecology, sociology and conservation genetics of wild mushrooms, lichens, caterpillar fungus and plants. During his PhD he applied molecular evidence adapted to scientific questions. He has been working more than 15 years in the Himalayan landscapes with governmental, intergovernmental, non-governmental and academic organizations in understanding biodiversity, climate change and their relation with society for the knowledge management and communication. He is an IPBES Research Fellow for the Assessment of Sustainable use of Wild Species
