About Semiha's Work
Dr. Semiha Demirbaş Çağlayan is a landscape ecologist and she has been working as a GIS expert over 10 years. In her early career she worked as a GIS trainer and consultant in several governmental institutes where she developed her skills to understand the Turkey’s geospatial data structure and its temporal and structural limitations. Her specific expertises are land use change, climate change adaptation and vulnerability analysis by using geospatial skills and spatial statistics. Apart from technical expertise in nature conservation projects, she has participated in urban planning, urban design, watershed management and restoration projects as a GIS and landscape expert. She gained her master degree on landscape fragmentation and doctoral degreeon biodiversity monitoring topic in Middle East Technical University Department of Earth System Science. She participated several projects as an analyst on the following topics: Climate change adaptation, ecosystem services mapping, systematic conservation planning, sustainable forest management and nature-based solutions.
