About Sarah's Work

Dr Sarah Luxton is a postdoctoral research fellow with CSIRO, based on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country in Canberra, ACT. She is based in the Ecosystem Health for Biodiversity stream of the Valuing Sustainability, Future Sciences Platform – providing expertise in vegetation and Landscape Ecology, and statistical Simulation Modelling (ABM/Predictive/Economic modelling).

Sarah has a PhD in plant ecology from Curtin University, where she developed quantitative models of refugia for vegetation communities vulnerable to climate change in the northern jarrah forests of southwestern Australia. She is broadly interested in how vegetation data and models are used in decision-making and advancing solutions in this space. She has experience in vegetation survey, mapping, and condition assessments from across Australia and New Zealand, including southwestern Australia, Australian tropical savanna systems and alpine Aotearoa.

Sarah is also an Associate Editor for the Australian Journal of Botany and a member of the Australian Vegetation Classification Research Chapter.
