About Sahra's Work
Sahra Ahmed Koshin is a Somali researcher, humanitarian practitioner, and PhD Candidate at the Universities of Nairobi and Copenhagen. She is the Director of a women-led humanitarian organisation based in Somalia and has extensive experience in gender, displacement, humanitarian policy, localisation, diaspora studies, and social policy research across the Horn of Africa.
Her research focuses on gender and humanitarianism; women-led localisation in Somalia; displacement and durable solutions; diaspora citizenship and transnational belonging; women, peace and security; feminist political economy; and social policy in fragile and conflict-affected settings. Her work particularly examines how Somali women and local organisations negotiate agency, leadership, and survival within humanitarian and governance systems.
