About Sacha's Work

I am a Brazilian geographer conducting interdisciplinary work focused on how land use can contribute to devising actionable pathways to sustainability. For that, I leverage Earth Observation, machine learning, and geospatial analysis of landscape change, linked to in-depth field research. My recent work ranges from mapping Amazonian socio-bioeconomies, particularly small-scale açaí agroforestry systems, to institutional analysis and the evaluation of sustainability programs.
I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Pulte Institute for Global Development at the University of Notre Dame, where I am part of the Innovating Green Pathways to Prosperity (IGPP) project, which aims to generate new evidence on interventions that effectively balance poverty alleviation with environmental protection in rural areas of the Global South.
