Sabyasachi Dasgupta

Specialized in forestry while working in the field of conservation ecology, prime focus of my career is been sustainable development of the natural resources. As a team leader and active team member my aim is always to achieve the goal well within the stipulated time frame. Fund raising for research and consultancy along with networking for academic and research purpose remained as foremost priority during my career, which is reflected in publication, sponsored research projects (from MoEFCC, DST, UCOST, NMHS, IERP, State Departments), consultancy (from NHPC, NTPC, SJVNL, UJVNL, GMR, IIT Roorkee, w.r.t CEIA, EIA and EMP of Hydropower Projects) and international exposure (Cambridge University; Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands; University Rottenburg, University of Freiburg, University of Konstanz- Germany; KNUST, Ghana; LiBard-Pokhara, Nepal; INBAR, China). In 20 years of research and academic career published 41 research papers in international and national peer reviewed journals, delivered more than 50 invited talks in various forums, six research projects worth about INR 150 laks, Consultancy of about INR 200 laks and successfully supervised 3 Ph.D scholars and 6 Ph.D scholars are registered, supervised many Masters’ thesis, along with several independent researchers who worked in different projects under me and are now well placed in their career. Apart from formal education training in Wildlife Conservation, RS&GIS, Adaptive management, Vulnerability Assessment, Climate Change studies has always been helpful in designing and executing applied research projects and teaching modules. As an Associate professor and Professor, also remained on the administrative position of the office of the Head of the Department (HOD), Dean of Students Welfare (DSW) and served as Director, IQAC looking after different Accreditation, Ranking of University and suggest strategies for overall development of the University. Guiding and advising on several issues related to development of the Forestry sector, Climate Change etc. of the state is regular activity and member of various state level committees.
