About Roman's Work

I am an environmental social scientist focussing on the diverse forms of governance affect human-nature interactions in various settings. More specifically, I am interested in how people’s values towards nature shape decision-making processes for the management of nature’s contributions to people, particularly in forests, in grasslands, and along coasts. My research is predominantly driven by social science methods, such as interviews, photovoice, surveys, social network analysis, and participatory mapping methods.

Before starting my PhD, I studied Environmental Sciences at Leuphana followed by a master's degree in Human Geography with a specialisation in Environmental Social Science at Stockholm University. After graduating I worked for a small NGO in Berlin developing campaigns and educational workshops on microplastics pollution.
