About Raymond's Work
Raymond is currently the champion of open science initiative that foster open data practices which help use of data at scale and harnessing technological potential reuse, reinterpretation, use in different studies, innovation and accelerate scientific discovery within and outside research system, Committee on Data Science and Technology (CODATA-RDA) of International Council of Science (ICS) in Uganda. Raymond’s ecology skills have been acquired over 18 years’ professional experience, including working in ecological consultancy, academic research and nature conservation. Raymond has worked on a number of categories including international projects. He is currently the president of Uganda Association for Impact Assessment (UAIA) a member of International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) experienced in environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs) to international standards (including IFC Performance Standards and EBRD Performance Requirements), determination of Critical Habitats, construction management plans, Biodiversity Action Plans and developing offset strategies. Raymond is also experienced in specifying survey methodologies and managing teams of multi-disciplinary ecology experts to conduct biodiversity baseline assessments. Raymond is an expert ornithologist and wildlife in which has led international ornithological expeditions, held employment as a researcher on agri-biodiversity and a Darwin Initiative funded research at Makerere University Institute of Environment and Natural Resources, Trans-disciplinary Research Oriented Pedagogy for Improving Climate Studies and Understanding”. This is a global research programme implemented by International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS) and International Council of Science (ICS). Raymond has been a licensed registered and certified by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) for over 10 years. He is a highly competent biodiversity field surveyor for all groups of birds including birds of prey, breeding birds and wintering waders and the game. Raymond has biodiversity experience of countries across Africa. Raymond also integrated and extensive field experience of surveying other taxa including mammals and plants.
