Profile of Prof. Dr. Pramod W. Ramteke
Professor Dr. Pramod W. Ramteke is currently Adjunct Professor at Department of Molecular Biology & Genetic Engineering at RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur, India. Earlier he served as Dean of Post Graduate Studies and Head of Departments of Biological Sciences and Genetics & Plant Breeding at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, Allahabad, India. He ranked among Top 2% highly cited Scientist in Biotechnology the world and also Ranked in AD Scientific Index in Agriculture and Horticulture-1st in the University and 730 in the country. He has over 46 years of experience and contributed significantly towards development of microbe based ecosystem friendly processes for utilization of agricultural wastes for production of industrially important enzymes and biofuel and bioremediation of environmental contaminants. Presently his research focus is sustainable agricultural production by plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). He was a member of 18th Scientific Expedition to Antarctica and explored diversity of anaerobes in Antarctic ecosystems.
He is elected Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, The Linnean Society of London, National Academy of Biological Sciences, National Environmental Science Academy, Uttar Pradesh Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Biotech Research Society of India, Society of Biological Sciences and Rural Development, Society of Plant Protection Sciences, Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture & Technology, Maharashtra Academy of Sciences and The Academy of Environmental Biology.
He is recipient of Life Time Achievement Award (2017) by Society of Biological Sciences & Rural Development, Excellence in Science Award (2016) by Society of Conservation of Nature, Dr. J. C. Edward Medal (2016) by Bioved Research Society, SPR’s Noble award-2016 by Society of Plant Research, Distinguished Scientist Award (2015) by Society for Scientific Development in Agriculture & Technology, Er. V. S. Chauhan Gold Medal-2013 and Prof. K. S. Bilgramy Memorial Award-2012, Certificate of appreciation towards the indigenous development of Portable Water Analysis Kit (1989) development of The Mobile Laboratory Vans for Water Quality Analysis, Training and Water Pollution Abatement Purposes (1990) by CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, India.
He was a visiting Scientist to Biological Research Centre, Hungary (2017), Hacettepe University, Turkey (2011); Institute of Food Research, UK (2005); University of Liege, Belgium (2005); Korea Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea (2004), Hydrobiological Institute, Czech Republic (1995) and member of 18th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica (1998-99).
He has three patents, one paddy germplasm, three databases and over 350 gene sequences in NCBI to his credit. He authored two books, edited 8 books, over 250 original research articles, 32 reviews, 66 book chapters and has over 17,503 citations with h-index 60 and i-10 index 204 (Google scholor). He has guided 42 PhD and 72 PG students. He is actively involved in science communication activities especially for school children and National Council for Science & Technology Communication (DST) organized international broadcast of his talk “Nanotechnology in Agriculture” (2016).
