About Petina's Work
My research is focused on using GIS and remote sensing to support natural resource management in tropical Australia and adjacent regions. With a background in environmental science and geography, my work informs natural resource management decisions utilising my GIS, remote sensing expertise and spatial analysis skills. I joined CSIRO in 2006, and worked in Cairns (CSIRO - c/- James Cook University) for 10 years before moving to Brisbane in 2016, after working 13 years as a spatial analyst with the Department of Sustainability and Environment (Victoria) in the Parks, Flora and Fauna Division. I have developed an in-depth appreciation for the essentials of information management and the need for effective information architectures supporting delivery of novel science and data products and have worked collaboratively with many stakeholders to co-develop engaging information products to suits their needs. Additionally I am a Research Adjunct with James Cook University and have supervised both PhD and Masters students.
