About Paul's Work
Dr Paul Kristiansen (Associate Professor in Agricultural Systems, University of New England) has expertise in rural development, horticultural science, bio-statistics, and R&D training. For almost 20 years, Paul has had a strong interest in livelihood transformations and adaptive capacity in the context of changes in climate, society, technology and agribusiness. He has supervised 80 post-graduates to completion, co-authored almost 90 journal articles and attracted funding worth almost $10 million.
With over 10 years’ experience in South & South-East Asia (S&SEAsia), he has participated in numerous projects related to farming systems, land use and livelihood impacts, natural resource management, eco-tourism, marketing and value chains, and policy analysis. He travels frequently in SE Asia where he visits farming households, input suppliers, processors, traders, and government and NGO staff with his wide network of contacts. Paul also presents training on research methods and project management at universities and institutes several times each year, and mentors dozens of aspiring scholars, scientists and researchers throughout S&SEAsia.
