About Paul's Work

I am a geographer with an interdisciplinary background and research interests at the interface of environmental change, policy and institutions, transportation, urban sciences and local economic development. Generally, my research and publications to date have focused on three core areas. First, the institutional evolution and effectiveness of laws, regulations, and policies for the governance of environmental and landscape challenges. Secondly, the institutional environment and political economy of transportation as well as their intersections with new schemes for transport services delivery, Thirdly, the exploration of processes of urbanization and contemporary problems in urban management. In addition to my academic work, I also continue to undertake consultancy assignments and author reports for a range of clients, including UNDP, UNCDF, UN-Habitat, World Resources Institute (WRI) University of Manchester, and the Population Secretariat (Uganda). I also prioritize my responsibilities for academic service, contributing as a peer-reviewer or referee for a number of international peer reviewed journals, including: South African Journal of Earth Observation/Remote Sensing, and CODESRIA. Additionally, I also regularly provide similar services for scholarly book publishers, multilateral organizations, and research institutes, including CODESRIA and Mkuki na Nyota Book Series. If you have consultancy, supervision, review, or collaboration inquiries related to the thematic foci above, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
