About Owuor's Work

I am a trained ecologist with keen interest in looking at issues at the intersection of biodiversity, ecosystems both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. I aim to understand real world conservation issues that are facing local communities, working together with stakeholders (community-based groups, academia, students, researchers, Non-Governmental Organizations, County and National Governments) involved in the use and management of natural resources. While focusing on ecosystems of global conservation concern, I adopt a strongly local participatory approach in my research using the ecosystem services approach. This involves education, awareness creation, knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement and development of short videos to highlight environmental problems facing communities living within and adjacent to these ecosystems as highlighted in one of my short videos (link www.youtube.com/watch?v=52cJM5ZwOc4). This is important for achieving the sustainable development goals as we collectively with different stakeholders.
