About Michael's Work

Olukolajo Michael Ayodele, a Nigerian, is deeply committed to advancing global sustainability through interdisciplinary collaboration. His journey in environmental management and sustainable development began during his undergraduate studies in Estate Management at The Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria, where he developed an interest in the complexities of real estate and its environmental implications. Continuing his academic journey, Michael pursued a Master's degree in Estate Management at the University of Lagos, where he expanded his knowledge of environmental management and refined his research skills. During his doctoral studies at the prestigious Federal University of Technology Akure, he conducted research on the environmental valuation assessment of oil-polluted wetlands for compensation purposes in the Niger Delta Region, Nigeria. Michael spent a transformative period as a visiting scholar at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom, from September 2013 to April 2014, enriching his academic experience and broadening his perspective. As a senior lecturer at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Michael plays a significant role in shaping the next generation of environmental professionals, emphasizing creativity and resilience in tackling complex challenges. Outside of academia, Michael is actively involved in professional organizations such as the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) and the International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS), showcasing his dedication to staying informed about industry trends. Internationally recognized for his contributions to research, advocacy, and community engagement, Michael is known for his innovative approach to addressing pressing environmental issues, solidifying his reputation as a leader in the field. He serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for a number of local and international journals.
