About Miao's Work
Dr. Miao Zhang is an associate professor at the State Key Laboratory of Earth Observation/Remote Sensing Science, Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a key member of the CropWatch team, which provides Earth Observation/Remote Sensing-based global agricultural monitoring through a cloud platform. As a member of the Executive Committee of the GEOGLAM Flagship and one of the co-leads of the Joint Experiments for Crop Assessment and Monitoring (JECAM) Initiative, he has collaborated with researchers from over 20 countries and various international organizations within the GEOGLAM framework. His research focuses on Earth Observation/Remote Sensing-based agricultural monitoring, specifically crop classification using multi-source Earth Observation/Remote Sensing imagery and crop area estimates and Food Security/Sovereignty assessment, and big Earth data for cropland and cropping intensity mapping.
