About Meron's Work
Meron Tekalign (PhD) is an Assistance Professor at the Center for Environmental Science of Addis Ababa University. Meron holds a PhD degree in Bioscience Engineering from Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium in 2019. She has 10 years teaching and research experience at Addis Ababa University. A graduate course Meron has been teaching includes Environmental Impact assessment, Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation, and Environmental Ecology, Environmental Degradation and Restoration, and Ecosystem Management. Moreover, Meron is currently advising 4 graduate students on the topics of Environmental change, Ecosystem services values change and Agroforestry. Currently, she is a principal and co-principal investigator of 2 thematic research projects of Addis Ababa University. Meron has authored and co-authored 5 articles on reputable peer- reviewed journals on forest and forest ecosystem services, Urban Environment and related topics. She had worked on research project being a focal person, for STRONGBOW (NICHE/ETH/023) project on capacity building for Higher Education Institutes in natural resource management, tourism, and ecotourism in Ethiopia that was operational across five universities in Ethiopia. She is currently working as a Program coordinator for Demand Driven Action Research (DDAR), Horn of Africa Regional (subnational) Environment Centre Addis Ababa University which involves across six East African countries.
