About Md. Monjure Alam's Work
Dr. Md. Manjure Alam Pramanik was born on August 6, 1978 in Rangpur District of Bangladesh After completing his primary education in the village school, he was admitted to Rangpur Zilla School. After receiving a scholarship from the talent pool in class eight, he passed the SSC examination with distinction and passed the Higher Secondary Examination from Carmichael College with distinction and was admitted to Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in town planning under the Faculty of Architecture and Planning from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Later, he earned a PhD degree in Urban Growth Modeling from the University of Thessaly, Greece with a State Scholarship from the Greek government.
In his career, he first worked as Assistant Director (Urban Planning and Management) in LGED for two years and later joined the BCS (Police) cadre as ASP through the Bangladesh Civil Service Examination. After working with professional skills in his career, he was promoted first to Additional Superintendent of Police and later to the rank of Superintendent of Police and posted as AIG (Development) at the Police Headquarters. He was last promoted in November 2023 as Additional DIG and posted at the Police Headquarters as Additional DIG (Development).
He received the IGP Award 2 times and the President's Police Medal (PPM) 1 time for his work with skill and professionalism in his career. He secured 4th place in basic training from the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center, Savar and got the opportunity to travel to Malaysia.
In addition to the work related to maintaining law and order of the police, he is also skillfully involved in the project formulation, approval, implementation and monitoring of various development projects related to buildings, infrastructure, health, training, capacity building and housing of the Bangladesh Police. He is also involved in the implementation process of a housing project named Bangladesh Police Officers’ Housing (POHS) and working for more than 07 years. With great reputation, he served as the Project Director of 03 projects of the Bangladesh Police and completed 2 (two) projects within the stipulated time, maintaining the quality of work and saving government money. Currently, he is serving as the Project Director of 01 (one) project, which will be successfully completed in the fiscal year 2024-2025, Insha’Allah. He is also currently serving as the Additional Project Manager of the Road Safety Project funded by the World Bank.
In addition to his professional skills, since his childhood he had a great interest in writing at school, college and university levels. He won the first place 2 (two) times in national level in the essay writing competition and was awarded by the Prime Minister. He has received more than 30 awards at the upazila, district, divisional, national and even international levels in essay writing competitions. Notable among the institutions from which he has received awards are Shishu Academy, Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, Family Planning Association, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Tamuddan Majlis, Road Safety Foundation, Bangladesh Insurance Academy, United Nations Information Center, BBC Bangla, The European Law Student’s Association (ELSA), Greece etc. He received these awards from the Honorable Prime Minister, Honorable Speaker of the National Parliament, Foreign Minister, Minister of Industries, Minister of Religious Affairs, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretaries of various ministries and prominent dignitaries at various times.
He traveled to Canada, Japan, France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Greece, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore to participate in various trainings, conferences and workshops to enhance his professional skills and excellence.
He is currently a Visiting Faculty at the University of Thessaly, Greece and an External Researcher at the University's GIS Lab. His PhD thesis was published in the top-rated journal of Urban Planning and is featured on the website of the United States Geological Survey (USGS). He has published more than 12 articles in domestic and foreign journals.
He is a member of the Bangladesh Institute of Planners and the Commonwealth Association of Planners. In addition to his professional duties, he is a former debater and has served as a judge in debate competitions on Bangladesh Television. In his personal life, he is the father of 01 daughter and 01 son. His daughter is a student of class 11 in Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and his son is a student of class 8 of Government Laboratory High School, Dhaka. His wife Dr. Mashura Musharraf is working as a consultant in the pediatric department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
