Marius von Essen

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability at the University of California Los Angeles. I'm interested in policies and governance mechanisms of land use. More specifically, I investigate if and how certain governance approaches can help to reduce the negative impacts of land use in the tropics while encouraging sustainable and fair use of natural resources. Most recently, I am investigating jurisdictional approaches to sustainable resource use, using a mix of methods, including agent-based modeling.
