Mario Balzan

I am an applied ecologist and an environmental scientist, currently based in Malta. My research interests and work experience revolve around the fields of natural resource management and ecology, and deal with spatio-temporal Simulation Modelling (ABM/Predictive/Economic modelling) of biodiversity and plant-arthropod relations, and the management of ecosystems for the delivery of multiple ecosystem services. Topics covered in my work include biodiversity conservation, with a focus on insects and pollinators, habitat management in agroecosystems, urban-rural interactions, and the ecological intensification of management across ecosystems for sustainability
