About Mairon's Work
Mairon holds a PhD in Environmental Studies from the VU University Amsterdam (2014) and has worked for 15 years on the policy and governance dimensions of sustainable development. He has worked extensively on Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, India and Indonesia on themes related to sustainable agriculture, value chain development and forest conservation, including REDD+, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable Food Security/Sovereignty and landscape approaches. He held postdoctoral positions both at Wageningen University & Research Centre (Netherlands) and at the Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) before becoming a research fellow at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI). Mairon is research coordinator for the Trase initiative on sustainable supply chains, and currently focuses on leverage points for land-use sustainability transitions in Latin America.
