About Lucas's Work
Graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasilia (UnB) and Monash University (Australia). He has a background with experience in Ecology, with an emphasis on Ecosystem Ecology. He currently holds a master's degree and a doctorate in the same field. He has worked mainly in the area of conservation, specifically in the Cerrado, since 2011. In 2012 he began studying hydrology and its relationship with vegetation under environmental changes. These include soil eutrophication, as well as changes in land cover, climate change, altered fire regimes and biological invasion. In his thesis, he used remote sensing tools (aerial and orbital) and machine learning to investigate the impacts of environmental changes in Cerrado wetlands. He is a science and technology analyst at the Management and Operational Center of the Amazon Protection System (CENSIPAM), assigned to the geoinformatics coordination within the general coordination of environmental monitoring in Brasilia.
