Theme: “Mapping and assessment of ecosystem services in relation to forest management in mediterranean ecosystems” within the research project FIRB “MIMOSE” (Development of innovative models for multiscale monitoring of ecosystem services indicators in Mediterranean forests). Responsible prof. Marco Marchetti.
Teaching
Professor in charge at the Sapienza University (Rome, Italy), Faculty of Mathematic, Physics and Natural Sciences, Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, chair on “Conservation of Forest Resources”- 48 hours. Academic Year 2016-2017
PhD course (2012-2014)
University of Molise, Department of Bioscience and Territory, Laboratory of Global Ecology ( Contrada Fonte Lappone, 86090, Pesche (IS), Italy). PhD course “Argo-forestry science, agro-industrial technology and rural landscapes. Forestry systems”. Cycle XXVII..Supervisor: prof. Marco Marchetti.
The PhD research was mainly focused on the analyses of dynamics and fluxes of Land Use and Land Cover Change at different scales, and the related effects on ecosystem services, primarily carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation.

Theme “Territorial Forest Planning: characterization of forest stands for the biodiversity conservation” within the research project “Permanent Observatory for biodiversity” in the Mainarde Mountain Systems, district (Molise, Italy). Supervisor: Dott. Fabrizio Ferretti.
Research activity description
His research activity has been principally focused on the study of land use and land use change at different spatial scales (from Regional (subnational) to national) and the assessment, mapping and evaluation (from both biophysical and economic perspectives) of their impacts on ecosystem services (principally biodiversity, carbon storage and sequestration and timber provisioning), as demonstrated by his thesis on “Land Use and Land Cover Change monitoring and impacts on Italian ecosystems and landscape”. Land Use and Land Cover Change analyses are based on using both inventory and cartographic approaches, while the evaluation of ecosystem services is based on the use of the InVEST model, developed by the Natural Capital Project (where he spent 6 months during his PhD period). Currently he has a post-doc fellow at the Department of Bioscience and Territory (University of Molise) on the research project FIRB “MIMOSE” (Development of innovative models for multiscale monitoring of ecosystem services indicators in Mediterranean forests), and he is actively involved in several research projects and scientific collaborations as even demonstrated by the scientific publications’ list.
