About Lizah's Work
In honor of the “Ubuntu” culture from Africa, Lizah has over 10 years of experience working in the NGO sector, development sector, public finance institutions, and institutions of higher learning. The word Ubuntu means “I am because we are” and speaks to a community of practice that requires a shared domain, values, and a practice of actions that promote the sustainability and development of communities. Lizah’s doctoral research focuses on the future of farming with climate change, specifically how ecological economics goals may influence policy that supports the livelihoods and wellbeing of diverse farmers, who are key actors in agroecosystems. Lizah has held multiple roles and has experience in climate change policy design, cross-sector social partnerships for water stewardship, and provided direct assistance to small to medium-sized farmers and businesses in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Lizah is excited to use mixed methods and participatory action research approaches in her global inquiry into “development”.
