About Leonie's Work
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, studying the factors and feedbacks influencing land systems and sustainability outcomes. I recently received my doctorate at ETH Zurich under the supervision of Rachael Garrett, Jan Dirk Wegner and Johanna Jacobi. where I was part of the Environmental Policy Lab, the Agroecological Transitions Group and worked together with the EcoVision Lab at the University of Zurich. The primary focus of my doctoral thesis has been on understanding cattle ranching and linked environmental and social impacts in the Brazilian Amazon. A key aspect of my research involves examining how gender equity and sustainability transitions are interrelated. My methods include both large scale and deep learning-driven geospatial analysis and qualitative approaches like semi-structured interviews.
