About Kaleb's Work

I hold a BSc. Forestry (Moi University) and MPhil. Forestry/Soil Science (Moi University-Kenya/Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER)/the University of Aberystwyth, Wales, United Kingdom). I also do hold a Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE-Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology-MMUST). Currently, I am a Ph.D. Research Stage student in the Dept. of Disaster Management and Sustainable Development (DMSD-MMUST). The Ph.D. The study focus is A Study on Socio-Ecological Factors that Influence Resilience to Food and Water Insecurity In Turkana County, Kenya. I hold several micro-credentials in Research Management and Administration from University of Witwatersrand-SA. I am a fellow of International Atomic Energy Agency/FAO (IAEA-https://www.iaea.org-Soil Science), American Association of GeographersAmerican Association of Geographers (AAG- https://www.aag.org-GIS) and WWF-Russell E. Foundation (www.worldwildlife.org -Ocean Policy & Governance). I am a Senior academic and researcher with over 30 years of working experience acquired across a wide range of demanding roles within the forestry/conservation sector, Agroforestry/soil science research, education sector, public sector, civil society, and quasi-government organizations. Currently, I serve as a Co-Investigator from MMUST in the Building Research Capacity in Sustainable Water and Food Security/Sovereignty in the drylands of Sub-Sahara Africa (BRECciA) Project, a collaborative effort with the University of Southampton (UoS-UK) and 6 African Universities (MMUST, University of Ghana, University of Malawi, University of Nairobi, Technical University of Kenya, Kenyatta University-Kenya) from March 2017 to present. Current research interests are in using the Land Degradation Surveillance Framework (LSDF) to understand land use and land cover patterns and restoration of land degradation in the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands in Kenya.
