(1982) in ecology from Inner Mongolia University, Hohhot; M.S. (1987) and Ph.D. (1991) in ecology from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, USA.  National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University (1991-1992) and Princeton University (1992-1993).  Research areas: Landscape Ecology, urban ecology, and (landscape) sustainability science.  Authored/edited 21 books and 418 journal articles/book chapters.  Total citations: 65,888; H-index: 115 (Google Scholar; January 16, 2025).
