About Jean's Work

Senior Researcher at the Brazilian Institute for Space Research (INPE) and Head of the Strategic Projects Division (DIPE3). CNPq Research Fellow.
Has worked with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) on the estimation and quantification of greenhouse gas emissions and removals from the LULUCF sector, as well as on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability, contributing to Brazil’s National Inventory Report (NIR) and National Communications, and currently to the preparation of the Brazilian Biennial Transparency Report (BTR).
Appointed contributor to the IPCC Working Group II (Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability) for the AR5 and AR6 cycles, and to the IPCC Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories. Contributor to IPBES assessments (Regional and Subregional Assessments and the NEXUS Assessment). Contributor to the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) in Latin America and to the Global Environment Outlook 5 (GEO-5) synthesis report coordinated by UNEP.
Served as Brazilian representative on the Executive Council of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) and as Regional Director of the International Nitrogen Initiative (INI). Currently serves as International Secretary of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). Member of the Binational Council of the Brazil–France Center for Amazonia Biodiversity; Vice-Chair of the Brazilian Research Network on Global Climate Change (Rede CLIMA), and Scientific Coordinator of the AdaptaBrasil Platform. These last two activities supports the Brazilian’s National Adaptation and Mitigation Plans (PlanoClima).
