About Iravatee's Work

I am a researcher trained in interdisciplinary environmental sciences, first through the Masters program in Wildlife biology at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bengaluru and then at the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment, Bengaluru where I am currently enrolled as a PhD scholar. My interests are in studying socio ecological changes in pastoral landscapes in the Deccan peninsula. I have led research projects which studied carnivore distribution in agropastoral landscapes and participated in socio-economic surveys of pastoral economies in western Maharashtra and northern Karnataka in the past 8 years. For my PhD, I am studying how land use change and pastoralism-biodiversity relations are linked to each other in the semi-arid savannas of Pune district in Maharashtra, India.
