About Hannah's Work

Hannah Wittman is a Professor in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and is actively involved in the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm, the UBC Centre for Climate Justice, and the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability . She also leads UBC’s Research Excellence Cluster in Diversified Agroecosystems. Dr. Wittman received her PhD from Cornell University in the field of Development Sociology and served as Project Lead of the World Committee on Global Food Security HLPE Report #16 Promoting youth engagement and employment in agriculture and food systems (2021). She conducts community-based and participatory action research related to food sovereignty, agroecological transitions, open-source digital tools for farm management in diverse global contexts.
