About Germain's Work

Mr. Muvunyi Germain holds a MSc. in Geoinformatics (Natural resources management program) and BSc (Honor) in Soil sciences and Environmental Management. Currently he is working as a permanent lecturer at INES – Ruhengeri and as GIS& Earth Observation/Remote Sensing Consultant with different intuitions and companies. With around 8 years of professional experience Mr. Germain is specialized in the areas of: GISEarth Observation/Remote Sensing cartography GNSS(Global Navigation satellites system ) & geodetic surveying Environmental Simulation Modelling (ABM/Predictive/Economic modelling)implantation of land husbandry technologies, land use mapping and planningforestry governance and mapping, digital terrain Simulation Modelling (ABM/Predictive/Economic modelling) and analysis, local development plan SDI (spatial Data Infrastructure) etc. He is one of the most leading Earth Observation/Remote Sensing and GIS Experts in Rwanda with proven experience in Earth Observation/Remote Sensing analysis; Geographic Information System (GIS) based mapping, Environmental Simulation Modelling (ABM/Predictive/Economic modelling), Agriculture Simulation Modelling (ABM/Predictive/Economic modelling), field survey and capacity building. Mr. Germain has vast working experience with local and international organizations and donor agencies like: European Union, USAID, ICRAF (World Agro forestry center), Ministry of Infrastructure (MININFRA), World Bank, Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Rwanda Water and Forestry Authority etc. He has worked as GIS Researcher, GIS Expert, Earth Observation/Remote Sensing Expert, Forest Planning Expert, Land Husbandry Expert, Field survey coordinator, Lecturer of GIS, Earth Observation/Remote Sensing and other surveying courses, etc. throughout his career. Mr. Muvunyi Germain has in-depth knowledge on MS office, mapping and statistical analysis software like: GIS & Earth Observation/Remote Sensing (Arc GIS 10.7, Python, QGISERDAS imagine 2020, GEE, E-Cognition, ENVI 5.3 Globalmapper, Geomatica Supermap PIX4D cloud and mapper AgisoftPython, QGIS, GEoDa, Image J, Grass,ILWIS ) Machine Learning (DL, CNN, time series, interpretable models etc)AutoCADCivil 3D Agricultural Production Systems SIMulator(APSIM), Microforest solution software (for forest parametersanalysis),PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS Excel, Statistical Analysis R- studio JavaScript,Mat lab etc. He has outstanding communication skills and excellent command over English, French and Kinyarwanda language
