About Fernando's Work

The area where I have developed my research is Conservation Biology within human-modified landscapes, particularly Road Ecology. Roads are crucial infrastructures for human development, but may also have a major impact on biodiversity, particularly in more pristine areas. The impact of roads on wildlife is an emerging and one of the most challenging research fields in ecology, and in which I have developed most of my research, including on the road effects on population dynamics, genetic isolation and the behavior of various wildlife species and groups. My main goal is to provide information to help decision making toward a sustainable coexistence between human infrastructure development and wildlife. The area where I have developed my research is Conservation Biology within human-modified landscapes, particularly Road Ecology.
