About Fatima's Work

I am an environmental scientist and communications professional working with low carbon rural development, environmental governance, and climate change for 20+ years. Since 2018, I have been working as senior natural resources management consultant at the World Bank, in Washington DC. Before moving to US, I was the Brazilian country director of Solidaridad Network, where I launched several initiatives to promote climate-smart agriculture and landscape governance. I have a master’s in environmental sciences from University of São Paulo (USP), a bachelor’s in communications also from USP and two degrees on environmental and business management from Berkeley University. I have developed projects for the Brazilian Soy Association, for the Ministry of Rural Development and for the Secretary of Environment of the State of São Paulo. As a journalist, she worked as editor, economic desk associate editor and business reporter at the two largest daily newspapers in Brazil.
