About Elie's Work
Dr Ir Elie Antoine Padonou hold a PhD in Land use modeling, land degradation and restoration in May 2015. He worked on bowé, degraded land in West Africa characterized by ferricrete exposure due to soil surface erosion. He used participatory modeling to assess and predict the impact of bowalization on biodiversity, soils and humans’ livelihood. He attended many training courses in modeling with software such as GIS, R, SAS, Maxent, Marcov chain and PCORD.
He participated in many research programs as a research assistant and has ample experience in various scientific activities including collecting field data, leading teams, preparing reports, etc. He was awarded the World Bank Robert S. McNamara Fellowship for PhD Research, two International Foundation for Science grant (D/5616-1 and D/5616-2) and two Ruffords Small Grant (RSG reference: 17649-1 and RSG reference: 20246-2).
