About Eike's Work

I lead the Department of Horticultural Sciences at the University of Bonn, Germany since 2018. Before then, I worked for 8 years at the World Agroforestry Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. For half of this time I was hosted by the Center for Development Research at the University of Bonn. I hold a PhD in Agricultural Sciences (University of Kassel, Germany, 2007), MSc degrees in Internationational Ecological Agriculture (University of Kassel, 2004) and International Agricultural Development (University of California Davis, USA, 2005) and a BSc in Organic Agriculture. (University of Kassel, 2003).

I am interested in system-oriented research approaches, such as the application of decision analysis methodologies in agricultural contexts. I also work on fruit trees, in particular their sensitivity to climate change, and various other topics related to horticultural and agricultural sciences. As of 2018, I've published about 80 peer-reviewed papers on these and other topics.
