Dr Edward Morgan is a Research Fellow at the Cities Research Institute and Griffith Climate Change Response Program at Griffith University

He is currently researching and implementing trans-disciplinary and participatory landscape scale planning and governance of natural resources, in particular around primary forest conservation and water resources.

He originally studied chemistry and environmental chemistry and his PhD investigated the role science can play in sustainability and environmental policy. He is an interdisciplinary researcher with experience in natural and social science, and seeks to take a collaborative and integrated approach to understanding and addressing sustainability and environmental issues. 

His current research is focused on
1. Landscape planning for forest conservation and sustainable livelihoods: Developing community-led landscape planning and governance in developing countries to support climate change adaptation and mitigation, sustainable development and forest conservation.
2. Ecosystem-based climate change adaptation: Identifying science-based planning and governance opportunities for ecosystem-based adaptation through green infrastructure at a Regional (subnational) scale;
3. Integrating land use planning and water management: Developing socio-ecological assessments for water sensitive urban design features.
4. The science–policy interface: Investigating the role of science in sustainability, policy, planning and environmental governance.
