About Diana's Work
I am a senior researcher in the Environment and GIS Department at the Institute of Geography of the Romanian Academy.
I graduated Geography at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Geography, Environmental Science Section and I held MSc in Environmental Change and Regional (subnational) Development from the same university.
My PhD topic dealt with 'Spatial analysis of the anthropic pressure in the Dobrogea Region, southeastern Romania' which I defended in 2011 at the Institute of Geography of the Romanian Academy. My post-doc research project focused on agricultural water use and stakeholders' preferences for improving water resources management in southern Romania using a process-based model approach and multicriteria analysis, being developed during the 2013 year at the Swiss Federal Institute for Aquatic Science and Technology in Zurich, CH, under the supervision of prof. dr. Hong Yang.
My research interests fall into the broad domain of human-environment interactions in the context of global environmental change and sustainability science, being focused on land and water use efficiency in agricultural systems, communities' resilience to environmental/climate change and land systems governance.
My additional professional activities relate to Romanian National Committee for Future Earth (member; carrying out secretariat activities) and Land Cover and Land Use Change Commission of the International Geographic Union (corresponding member).
