About Collins's Work
I am a Research Assistant at the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), Faculty of Agriculture, University of Nairobi. 'My research domain focuses on the direct effects of disturbance (e.g. drought, overgrazing, and land-use change) on arid and semi-arid ecosystems. My main research interests are; soil fertility, soil and water management, and restoration of degraded arid and semi-arid ecosystems. These phenomena are often equated to a reduction in the biological and economic potential of land to support human livelihood, livestock and wildlife and which, ultimately, are linked to global environmental change through climate, biodiversity loss, pastoral livelihoods, and land use change.
I hold MSc in Soil Science from University of Nairobi (Kenya, 2018); and a BSc in Management of Agroecosystems and Environment (University of Nairobi, 2012). I have also attended a number of professional short courses like ‘International Training Course on Organic Agriculture’ at Makerere University, in Kampala Uganda in 2011. The results of my MSc research are published in peer-reviewed journals and presented in international conferences.
