About Clemens's Work

Clemens Jänicke is a doctoral researcher at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and the FORLand project at the Leibnitz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO). His research focuses on the relationship between land ownership structures and land use intensity. In his work quantitatively assesses the ownership concentration and the share of owned and rented land in the land market of Brandenburg. Subsequently he will analyse the influence of these ownership structures on land use intensity, which he will derive from crop models and remotes sensing time series. He his also member of the IRI THESys.

Before he started working at the IAMO in January 2020, Clemens studied Geography at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and obtained a Master’s degree in Global Change Geography.  Accompanying to his studies he worked in the EnMAP Core Science Team as a student collaborator for three years, focusing on the analysis of natural vegetation with help of hyperspectral satellite imagery.
