About Catarina's Work
Dr. Catarina C. Jakovac is a Brazilian biologist, currently a associate professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina - Brazil. She is a specialist in tropical forest ecology, her research focuses on forest succession after natural or anthropogenic disturbances, mainly in the Amazon region. As part of the 2ndFOR international network, she has collaborated in the understanding of secondary succession and the conservation value of human-modified landscapes at local, regional and continental scales. She is also involved in prioritization maps for ecosystem restoration, public policies on forest restoration and secondary forests in Brazil.
