About Cascade's Work

My research examines how climate change is impacting human health and wellbeing, with a focus on u the
intersection of climate extreme events, food systems and security, human health, and demographic patterns.
To this end, I create and integrate novel environmental and human geospatial datasets to assess how these
socioecological systems are changing across spatial and temporal scales. I use a suite of technical skills that
range from analysis of remote-sensed imagery to running custom geospatial algorithms on high-performance
computers to the development of novel climate datasets to household survey data collection. Fundamental to
achieving my research objectives is my ability to foster collaboration across disciplines with partners from
around the world. Working with diverse teams not only produces truly novel scientific knowledge, but also
helps inform policy paradigms that ensure an equitable and sustainable future.
