About Carole's Work

Dr. Carole Dalin is CNRS Research Scientist at Ecole normale supérieure (France), and Associate Professor in Sustainable Food Systems at the University College London (UK).

Carole currently leads the FLORA project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC)

She is interested in quantifying the environmental sustainability of food systems at the global scale. She focuses on the impacts of crop and livestock production on water resources, biodiversity and climate change. 

Carole has held a faculty position at UCL since 2016, where she is leading a research group and has led and co-led several international collaborative research project on the sustainability of global food production and trade.

Previously, she worked on climate and the water-energy-food nexus in southern Africa at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate and Environment at the London School of Economics (UK). She obtained her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and Water Resources at Princeton University (US) in 2014, on international virtual water trade.
