About Carlos's Work

I am interested in impact evaluation of environmental policies and mechanisms. My research is focused on the analysis of governance and decentralization of conservation approaches (e.g., protected areas, payments for ecosystem services, biological corridors) and the impacts of land cover/land use change drivers on environmental and socioeconomic outcomes. I rely on mixed-methods approaches for scientific inquiry by integrating Earth Observation/Remote Sensing, spatial Statistics/Econometrics, and interviews to explore the effects of policy instruments and governance.
